Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in Europe and North America. The actual cause of the disease, also known as mammary carcinoma, is still unknown, however. Many types of breast cancer rely on stimulation from sexual hormones, for example, while others require special growth factors.

Triggering the self-destruction mode in tumors
As a result, two main methods are used in the fight against breast cancer: suppressing hormone production and blocking hormone receptors. Researchers from Bayer HealthCare are now developing a highly promising active ingredient as an effective alternative to the established substances. Read on to discover how cancer researchers at Bayer are triggering the self-destruction mode in tumors.
