Climate change and a growing world population mean that the global agricultural industry continuously has to intensify its efforts to secure good harvests. One key objective of plant protection researchers is therefore to enhance crop yields and make plants more resistant to stress situations, such as extended dry periods, floods and drastic temperature fluctuations.

Withstanding drought and flood
Researchers at Bayer CropScience are currently optimizing rapeseed, rice and cotton crops using biotechnological means, by inserting a useful gene in the plants and silencing specific, individual genes. Read more about the fitness program the researchers have developed for their plants.
