Discovering effective active substances is always a question and answer game. Sometimes is takes a lot of endurance. Scientists who remain dedicated to one topic throughout their careers tend to be the exception nowadays. Dr. Reiner Fischer is one of these exceptions. He is one of the Bayer Group’s greatest inventors: the chemistry researcher at Bayer CropScience in Monheim has spent many years developing new active ingredients for crop protection agents.

Discovery of a completely new substance class
Fischer and his team discovered a completely new class of substances to combat insect pests and spider mites: the cyclic ketoenols. These active ingredients form the basis for numerous highly effective pesticides. The most recent product to emerge from Fischer’s laboratory is Movento®. This product is effective against aphids and other sucking pests. Read on to find out how and where this modest scientist finds the strength and inspiration for new ideas.
