Energy plants: Dr. Manfred Kern and his colleagues at Bayer CropScience are developing new crop protection concepts for field crops such as corn which are becoming increasingly significant as the basis for biofuels.
Fossil fuels are a limited resource, and there are plans to replace them increasingly in the future with biofuels that can be extracted from crops such as rapeseed and wheat. This is good for the agriculture industry, which is strengthened by the production of energy-producing crops. And it is also a challenge for the experts at Bayer CropScience, who are already developing the right crop protection strategies for these future energy suppliers.

Concepts for modern production plants

Furthermore, large-scale industrial plants have to be built to process these energy-producing crops. That’s why crop protection researchers, engineers and logistics experts from throughout the Bayer Group are networking their expertise in order to support and accompany the manufacture of biofuels from the fields all the way to the finished production facilities. The following article reveals how biofuel factories are planned and what new concepts have to be developed for the agriculture industry.
