For Bayer, sustainability automatically entails social commitment – and extensive foundation activities. For instance, one of Bayer’s three foundations, the Bayer USA Foundation, promotes scientific and educational initiatives such as the “Making Science Make Sense” program for schools. This involves Bayer employees volunteering their time to visit schools and conduct exciting experiments, for example at Sussex Avenue Elementary School in Morristown, New Jersey, United States.

A strategy of commitment
Bayer’s foundation activities are divided up according to focus: the Bayer Cares Foundation’s brief is to promote voluntary activities, strengthen social-medical approaches and support reconstruction projects. The Bayer USA Foundation fosters regional projects in North America. And science and education is naturally the focus of the Bayer Science & Education Foundation: numerous Bayer initiatives promote training for school and university students and up-and-coming research scientists – for example through scholarships and awards. The new foundations brochure provides a detailed overview of projects and support programs.
