In Baylab - Bayer’s student laboratories - children and young people get handson experience of research
In Bayer CropScience's Baylab plants in Monheim.
In Bayer’s BayLab® student laboratories, children and young people get handson experience of research, working with microscopes, test tubes and pipettes to disover scientific phenomena. The newest member of the BayLab® family is the laboratory at BayKomm, Bayer’s Communications Center in Leverkusen, Germany.
Lab coat and goggles on – let’s get started! In the BayLab®, students get the opportunity to work on the current big issues in research: biotechnology in medicine, healthy nutrition and nanotechnology. For example, they investigate which vitamins are present in our food, discover the world of nanoeffects and study microbiology. Each of the student labs operated by Bayer’s three subgroups has a different experimental focus. For example, in the Baylab plants established by Bayer CropScience, students convert canola oil into biodiesel. The seniors in the Bayer HealthCare lab extract genetic information from onions, while in the Baylab plastics, young people get to design their own plastic product. Now, in the Baylab at Bay- Komm, entire school classes can experiment to their heart‘s content. However, lab coats and goggles are a must!
