The prize for the best dissertation, inaugurated this year, will be awarded every two years. The Process Engineering Department at the University of Lodz is one of the best in Poland. The Technical University cooperates closely with, among others, the Technical University of Dortmund, with whom BTS maintains close ties.

Bayer Technology Services honors the best dissertation
Dr. Anna Antecka (Process and Environmental Engineering) receives award
Leverkusen, Lodz (Polen), May 25, 2009 – Bayer Technology Services GmbH (BTS) today honored the best dissertation submitted during 2007-2008 to the Department of Process and Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Lodz, Poland, thus extending its research and recruiting network to Eastern Europe. Dr. Anna Antecka received the EUR 1,000 prize for her dissertation “The Kinetic Model of Lacasse Biosynthesis with Cerrena unicolor and the Application of the Enzyme for the Degradation of Selected Aromatic Compounds”. Her interdisciplinary paper discusses the use and production of the enzyme laccase, and makes an innovative contribution to sustainable enzyme production processes for the textiles industry. The enzyme can decolor waterborne colorant solutions and is a cost-effective, ecological alternative to conventional chemico-physical agents.
