Andreas Werner and Francesco Lo Grande clean and monitor the stirring rods of an ointment mixer. Soon the agitator will be lowered into the drum containing 2,000 liters of white emulsion to thoroughly mix together the aqueous components and the fats – thus forming Bepanthen™ wound and healing ointment. In this way, nearly 2,000 tons of the product are created each year at the Bayer production facility in Grenzach-Wyhlen. The product’s active ingredient dexpanthenol s upports the systematic healing of superficial skin lesions and defective mucous membranes. New scientific analyses have shown that dexpanthenol stimulates the growth of fibroblasts – cells that play a key role in wound healing.
